 The position has a primary location of San Francisco, CA (specifically within J&J’s San Francisco Innovation Center).  Secondary locations include Spring House, PA, Titusville, NJ or Cambridge, MA.  This position will require up 25% travel.

Lead external innovation for AI/ML spanning research, discovery, and generative AI with the objective of forming partnerships that advance JJIM R&D’s capabilities and portfolio.

Key activities include developing a deep understanding of the business needs and opportunities, landscaping external companies and capabilities, engaging with external parties to diligence capabilities, data, and potential to collaborate, and leading the development of strategic partnerships through to deal formation/execution.

This role requires substantial engagement with senior leadership in JJIM, as well as with scientists and business stakeholders at all levels of the organization in DSDH, TAs, DPDS, and JJT.

The role also requires effective engagement with business and scientific leadership at current/potential partner organizations.

A combination of deep scientific/technical expertise in relevant areas with strong strategic, operational, and communication acumen is critical.

The individual should have expertise in AI/ML including generative AI, an exciting and rapidly developing area.
