Controls Technician
ABOUT THE ROLE
Amsted Automotive, Cold Form & Finishing, business unit is seeking a Controls Technician.
This roll will focus on supporting the process equipment and facility with electrical and control repairs, projects, and updates.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
* Through our CMMS, respond to all electrical related maintenance calls.
* Knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical schematics/prints and how these systems interact within an assembly cell.
* Work on the design, execution, and maintenance of the control’s programs.
* Is primarily responsible for developing user interfaces for operators and integrating them into the MES system.
* Maintain backups of machine programs related equipment configuration.
* Research and prove-out innovative ways to improve processes making them more efficient and flexible.
* Concept, quote, procure, and implement solutions to various manufacturing processes.
* Configure equipment and add required programming to new and existing equipment.
* Assist in definition of wiring required for gathering data from equipment.
* Work with Amsted Automotive Automation Group on controls projects across AAG as required.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED
* Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, associate’s degree in computer science, 2-year Technical Degree in Robotic Automation/ Computer Sciences preferred.
* At least 3 years on the job work experience in controls, primarily focused on machine design/machine build is required.
* Knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical schematics/prints and how these systems interact within as assembly process.
* Electrical knowledge and understanding on fuse and wire sizing, PNP/NPN, 480VAC diagram, NEC/IEC Electrical standards.
* Ability to adapt and learn new controls technology and software.
* Ability to work effectively and efficiently with light supervision.
* Understanding and communicating technical skills.
* Knowledge of multi axis servo systems and robotic systems.
* Industrial vision systems/sensors (Cognex, Keyence).
* Basic networking knowledge and application.
* Fieldbus Technologies (ex: Ethernet/IP, Ether CAT, I/O Link, Modbus).
* Interfacing and communication with devices: analog, fieldbus, etc.
* Software Experience:
+ AutoCAD (electrical/pneumatic detailing)
+ Rockwell Suite (Studio 5000, FactoryTalk, RS Logix)
+ Automation Direct (PLC, C-More HMI)
+ MS Office Suite
