Sommelier - Regent Santa Monica Beach Opening Summer 2024

Job Summary:

The Sommelier at Regent Santa Monica Beach will motivate & mentor staff’s wine knowledge, inspire & delight our guests with their wine service and commit themselves to fostering an environment of excellence in food, wine and service.

The ideal candidate will graciously address guest concerns, provide menu suggestions, deliver food & drinks, describe the dishes, recommend wine selections, oversee service staff, monitor guest satisfaction, and maintain the flow of service throughout the dining room.

Must be pleasant, conscientious and professional with excellent knowledge of food & alcoholic beverage selections and service standards. Must work well within a team, communicate effectively, and ensure seamless service operations and high-quality service.

A little bit about your day:

Reporting to the Director of Restaurants and Restaurant Assistant General Manager, every day is different, but you’ll mostly:


* Promote the Restaurant Group and Regent’s service philosophy and style through our people attributes. 


* Deliver exceptional hospitality to all guests, ensuring attentive, polished, and courteous service at all times.


* Maintain pristine and well-organized work areas.


* Conduct daily operations with efficiency, respect, friendliness, professionalism, teamwork, knowledge, patience, empathy, courtesy, and initiative.


* Comprehend and uphold all procedures, standards, protocols, and training programs meticulously.


* Understand and perform job duties to the expectations of Regent Santa Monica Beach and the restaurant Service, Food, Beverage and Wine manuals.


* Follow Regent Santa Monica Beach and restaurant guidelines for Service, Food, Beverage, and Wine.


* Recommend and sell wine to guests.


* Manage wine cellar inventory and maintenance.


* Supervise and support the front-of-house team, ensuring smooth service and taking charge of your station.


* Collaborate with Sommeliers and managers to execute and facilitate service.


* Present dinner features, including menu changes and daily additions.


* Coordinate with management and Chef regarding VIP procedures and special requests.
