Staff Product Engineer - Accessories - Hybrid

As a Staff Product Engineer for Accessories, you’ll support new product commercialization, including concept, definition, commercialization, release to mass production, and continued product improvement.

You’ll work closely with external companies such as technology providers, system integrators and Asia-based manufacturers to achieve technical, business and quality objectives.

You’ll collaborate with your counterparts in the engineering team to co-create and review product requirements documents, technology solution selection, bill of materials and performance analysis.

This role is hybrid, which means you will work some days on site at a Best Buy location and some days from home or other non-Best Buy location.

What you’ll do


* Work with internal cross-functional teams and system integrators to develop and maintain the product requirements document and associated specifications for new products


* Work with both internal and external partners to address all technical issues and ensure products meet Best Buy Exclusive Brands product performance and quality requirements


* Help develop and manage engineering project schedules and collaborate with cross-functional team members to ensure the overall master schedule is up to date


* Help review and address customer feedback and product return data and integrate learnings for continuous product improvements


* Help develop and maintain product specifications, product roadmaps and development strategy

Basic qualifications


* 8 or more years of experience in a hands-on product design and development engineering role in consumer electronics or related products such as computer and mobile peripherals, gaming accessories or audio and video products


* 8 or more years of experience interfacing with a wide variety of internal and external partners and organizations in the development of high-volume electronics products


* 4 or more years of experience in technical project management involving multiple projects in a matrixed organization


* 6 or more months of experience with analog and digital hardware design experience


* Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred qualifications


* Bachelor’s degree or higher in electrical, computer, or software engineering or related technical discipline


* Hands-on experience with the following technologies: USB, HDMI, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, RF and related technologies


* Hands-on experience with audio, video and networking technologies.


* Ability to travel internationally, approximately 10-20% of the year for project and supplier meetings
