Manager Underwriting Services

JOB DESCRIPTION

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:


* Assist VP Underwriting and AVP Underwriting in development and implementation of business plan for the division.


* Assume the day-to-day responsibility of the Agribusiness Underwriting Technician team.


* Assist in recruiting and hiring new staff employees.


* Oversee new hire orientation for the Agribusiness Underwriting Technicians and Chubb Associates.


* Assist with implementation of the underwriting strategy for the division.


* Assign underwriting territories and monitor activities of the Agribusiness Underwriting Technician team.


* Attends and participates in all territory meetings.


* Assist with monitoring of underwriting team to ensure that we stay within our authorities and filings.


* Lead and assist with internal audit process of the underwriting team.


* Monitor the production of all underwriting team members to ensure we are maintaining our service standards.


* Performs special projects and other job duties as necessary.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


* Knowledge of rating, forms, and underwriting requirements for farm and ranch lines.


* Analytical ability to evaluate underwriting risks within assigned authority limits.


* Ability to read and understand company procedure manuals and apply information to work tasks.


* Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks.


* Ability to work well with people in a team environment.


* Ability to effectively communicate and maintain business relationships with Company personnel, agents, outside resources, and customers.


* Ability to train/assist in training of underwriters and underwriting technicians.


* Ability to use the company terminology, processes, and systems.


* Knowledge of general office practices.


* Ability to perform basic and complex mathematical calculations.


* Ability to remain calm and professional.


* Ability to work from oral and written communications.


* Ability to work independently.


* Ability to communicate professionally in both written and oral communications.


* Ability to travel when necessary.


* Ability to maintain confidentiality.


* Ability to assist in other work-related areas as required.
