Job Summary
The Machinist operates manual lathes and milling machines, to produce and repair high-quality, precision parts.
The ideal candidate demonstrates exceptional attention to detail, a commitment to quality, and proactive approach to efficiency.
This role requires a safety-conscious team player capable of interpreting complex blueprints and working effectively with minimal supervision.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Set up, operate, and maintain manual machine tools to fabricate or repair precision components, working within tight tolerances.
* Analyze blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to determine machine setups, procedures, and optimal machining sequences.
* Apply knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) to ensure product conformity.
* Utilize and interpret various precision measuring instruments, such as micrometers (ID/OD/depth), calipers, and pi tapes, to inspect parts and ensure they meet specifications.
* Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and materials onto machines.
* Adjust machine feeds, speeds, and tool offsets as needed to maintain high-quality production.
* Perform routine and preventative maintenance on equipment to minimize downtime and ensure consistent performance.
* Operate overhead cranes safely to handle materials and parts.
* Maintain accurate inspection documentation and production records.
