The County of Riverside's Facilities Management Department, Budget and Accounts Payable team, are recruiting for an Accountant I/II located in Riverside.

The incumbent will report to the Supervising Accountant or Administrative Manager and will be responsible for analyzing complex accounting and financial data to ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB).
This includes maintaining and updating the Count Chart of Accounts, providing a detailed review of journal entries received from departments to ensure proper accounting principles and standards have been followed.
Additionally, the candidate will be trained to review, approve, and post transactions related to capital assets and assist with year-end reporting and special projects as needed.
All necessary training will be provided as needed.
The most competitive applicants will have experience with Accounts Payable, Budgeting, Peoplesoft Financials, general ledgers, capital assets transactions, journal entries, knowledge of accounting practices, reconciliations and Excel including experience with V lookups, pivot tables and macros.
Incumbents will also have knowledge of the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB).
The Accountant I is a natural progression underfill for the Accountant II.
Incumbents are expected to promote to Accountant II after obtaining one year of experience as an Accountant I, meeting the education requirement and obtaining a satisfactory performance evaluation.
