Liquid Barge Technician
I.
BASIC FUNCTION
The Liquid Barge Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the safe and compliant operation of tank barges by conducting thorough inspections before and after cargo operations.
These inspections focus on verifying cleanliness, assessing mechanical functionality, and identifying any safety or regulatory issues that could impact operations.
The position demands strong mechanical aptitude, keen attention to detail, and a solid understanding of barge systems and applicable environmental and safety standards.
By maintaining high standards of inspection and compliance, the Liquid Barge Technician helps safeguard personnel, protect the environment, and support the efficient movement of cargo.
II.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
1.
Conduct inspections of tank barges, including but not limited to:
a.
Inspection of voids.
b.
Reading and understanding barge documents.
c.
Inspect all other working equipment on the barge.
d.
Inspect and verify barge cleanliness prior to leaving the cleaning facility.
e.
Starting of barge engine and inspection for defects.
f.
Experience locating hull damage, void tank inspections, and all fittings including winches.
2.
Familiarity with barge equipment and ability to perform minor preventative and corrective maintenance on barge pumps, pump engines, boilers, and heaters.
3.
Knowledge if the vapor recovery systems on tank barges include all piping and pressure vacuum relief valve (PVRV).
4.
Knowledge of the functions/operations of the cargo tanks, cargo piping, cargo tank valves, pump cans, check valve, pressure relief on pumps and hot oil heaters.
5.
Maintain and ensure that decks are clear from spills (cargo or engine fluids).
6.
Assist as needed with barge operations.
7.
Maintain a clean and safe working environment that complies with environmental guidelines and policies.
8.
Stay compliant with all regulatory bodies as it applies to the work that is being completed and with all safety rules and policies.
9.
Utilize proper PPE while performing work on barges.
10.

Your Role: Manufacturing Process Operator in Training – Fixed Duration
The Manufacturing Process Operator in Training will be responsible for performing all tasks and activities associated with the assigned area.
You will be required to demonstrate a high level of initiative and ownership.
Departmental goals include meeting quality, quantity and cost targets while maintaining safety, cGMP's, and environmental compliance.

Your Responsibilities:
* Assures that production operations are performed according to cGMP and assists in keeping the department inspection ready through self-inspection and daily housekeeping in accordance with cGMP.
* Follow proper documentation and verification guidelines as they apply to all documents (e.g., batch production records, SOP's, equipment, and sample submission).
* Suggests and implements departmental safety improvements while incorporating safety into daily activities and working in a team environment to identify improvements and addressing process and safety concerns.
* The work of an operator is not always in a climate control environment and may be subject to performing work outdoors during changing and challenging weather conditions.
* Depending upon the assigned area, operator will be expected to learn and operate several types of large-scale processing equipment which could include but not limited to, dryers, filter, baghouses, mills, baggers, pneumatic material transfers, fermenters, gas boiler, air compressors, water systems, chillers, cooling towers, forklifts, and product/raw material movement on/off site.
What You Need to Succeed (minimum qualifications):

The Technical Services & Manufacturing Science (TSMS) Scientist is responsible for providing technical support for commercial and pilot laboratory operations at the Elwood, Kansas monoclonal antibody (mAb) manufacturing facility. The position is a subject matter expert with respect to mAb products and processes and is engaged in tech transfer, scale-up, process optimization, validation, monitoring, troubleshooting and continuous improvement activities.
* Work with Manufacturing, Development and Quality teams in execution of technical / development studies, investigations, validation activities and technical transfer programs.
* Collaborate with team members to identify potential risks, sources of variability, improvement, and value engineering opportunities to maximize project return and likelihood of technical success.
* Use scientific and statistical analysis tools to improve process understanding, ensure manufacturing processes are capable and operating in a state of control, and identify opportunities for process improvements.
* Participate in design, development, execution, commissioning, qualification, and validation activities for major projects.
