Country Risk Lead [Multiple Positions Available]

DESCRIPTION:

Duties: Cover the Andean, Central America and Caribbean regions, and support coverage of key regional countries, including Brazil, Mexico and the United States.

Assess the ratings and outlook of the coverage countries based on the economic, fiscal, monetary, external, banking and political outlook.

Risk manage the Firm's portfolio in the region across Lines of Businesses, and participate in risk due diligence process related to various types of business activities.

Engage with Front Office and Risk partners in both English and Spanish, presenting Country Risk perspectives, contributing to franchise strategy and limits discussion, challenging business proposals and supporting strategic initiative expansions.

Represent Country Risk in industry events, and JPMC internal conferences.

Organize regional due diligence trips and attend public and private sector entity meetings, in both English and Spanish, to obtain analysis on the country.

Participate in meetings with US regulators to present a Country Risk perspective on country ratings and portfolio, and external pressure assessment process.

Participate in regulatory stress tests to provide sovereign rating downgrade input into various exercises.

Lead the Country Risk team's crisis preparedness project.

As part of the project, collaborate with key risk partners to enhance the framework to support team's monitoring, response and in-depth crisis management.

Work with Country Risk's Data Visualization team to integrate the framework into online dashboard.

Lead the US-China policy tracker project.

Review potential new US government policy initiatives pertaining to Greater China, relevant developments of US-China relationship, and their impact on the JPMC portfolio.

Conduct research in both English and Mandarin.

This position requires up to 3% domestic and 7% international travel for attending industry events, JPMC conferences, and JPMC Country Risk's due diligence trips.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum education and experience required: Master's degree in Latin American Studies, International Studies, Economics, or related field of study plus 5 years of experience in the job offered or as Country Risk Lead, Country Risk Management, or related occupation.

The employer will alternatively accept a Bachelor's degree in Latin American Studies, International Studies, Economics, or related field of study plus 7 years of experience in the job offered or as Country Risk Lead, Country Risk Management, or related occupation.

Skills Required: This position requires five (5) years of experience with the following: Country rating analysis and risk management for developed and emerging markets countries; Credit risk and market risk products and transactions including bonds, total return swaps, credit default swaps, fx forwards and options, sovereign liability management, and acquisition financing.
