Appraiser Trainee/I/II

The County of Riverside's Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder's Office is seeking to fill multiple Appraiser Trainee/I/II positions throughout the County of Riverside.

The department has offices located in Riverside, Palm Desert, Temecula, Hemet, and Blythe.

The established eligibility list may be used to fill current and future vacancies within all divisions for up to six months or until the list is exhausted.

APPRAISER TRAINEE: $54,435.29 - $73,327.46 Annually

Will work under close supervision to conduct routine, less complex appraisals of real and personal property.

Incumbents are expected to promote to the next higher class of Appraiser I upon satisfactory job performance and meeting the minimum qualifications.

APPRAISER I: $68,481.50 - $90,175.90 Annually

Will conduct real and personal property appraisals of average difficulty.

Incumbents are expected to promote to the next higher class of Appraiser II upon satisfactory job performance and meeting the minimum qualifications.

APPRAISER II: $75,934.63 - $104,950.47 Annually

Will conduct more complex real and personal property appraisals.

Incumbents in this class are considered the fully qualified, journey level class in the Appraiser series.

The department seeks candidates with appraisal experience; ideal candidates hold a valid appraisal certificate issued by the State Board of Equalization.
Recruitment Notice: As a condition of employment with the Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder (ACR) Department, employees are prohibited from engaging in any real estate, appraisal, auditing, or notarial activities related to property located within the State of California, outside the scope of their official duties.

This includes acting as a real estate agent or broker, performing appraisals or audits for compensation or otherwise, and notarizing documents in a private capacity.

The use of any professional license (e.g., Broker, Salesperson, Notary Public) in connection with California property is not permitted while employed by ACR.

Assessment Requirement:
Minimally qualified candidates will be required to pass a computerized assessment in order to be considered for this position.

The level at which the position will be filled is at the Department's discretion and is based on candidate qualifications.

The Appraiser Trainee is a natural progression underfill for the Appraiser I.

Incumbents are eligible to promote to the Appraiser I within one year as an Appraiser Trainee after obtaining a satisfactory performance evaluation and meeting the educational requirements, including obtaining an Appraiser's Certificate issued by the State Board of Equalization (BOE).

Failure to achieve a satisfactory performance evaluation and meet the requirements to promote prior to the end of the probationary period will result in incumbents being returned to their former County classification or new hires being probationary released.

The Appraiser I is a natural progression underfill for the Appraiser II.
