Lead Park Maintenance Worker - Parks

The County of Riverside seeks candidates to fill positions throughout Riverside County.

A list of eligible candidates will be established to fill current and future vacancies .

The Riverside County Regional Park and Open-Space District is seeking a Lead Park Maintenance Worker - Parks at Lake Cahuilla Veterans Regional Park in La Quinta, with additional responsibilities at Mayflower Regional Park in Blythe, as well as other district parks as needed.

The Lead Park Maintenance Worker plays a vital role in the upkeep and repair of park facilities, equipment, and vehicles across Lake Cahuilla Veterans Regional Park and Mayflower Regional Park.

This selected candidate will oversee all aspects of grounds and facility maintenance, including plumbing, irrigation, carpentry, and mechanical work.

With a strong background in outdoor and grounds maintenance, the incumbent will effectively plan, assign, and review daily and long-term projects, while also coordinating resources, training staff, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols and maintenance standards.

In addition to hands on maintenance duties, the incumbent serves as a key liaison for park visitors, addressing concerns, promoting a safe and welcoming environment, and enforcing park regulations.

This role demands both leadership and technical skill, as it involves leading staff performance, maintaining detailed reports, and implementing preventive maintenance programs to support the long term care and functionality of both regional parks.

Both parks include large lake areas, making irrigation a key maintenance priority.

Candidates must have experience with complex irrigation systems, including controllers managing up to 100+ stations.

The most competitive candidates will be skilled in programming, adjusting, and troubleshooting irrigation systems to ensure efficient water use and coverage across varied landscapes.

* AFO (Aquatic Facility Operator)


* CPO (Certified Pool Operator)


* CPI (Certified Playground Inspector)


* QAC (Qualified Applicator Certificate)


* QAL (Qualified Applicator License)


* Knowledge in Aquatics fabrication

Work Schedule:


* 4/10 schedule: 40 hours per week with three consecutive weekdays off.

Weekends will be part of the regular work schedule.


* Hours will vary depending on department needs and special events.


* Must be willing to work holidays and some evening events.

The Lead Park Maintenance Worker - Parks is an advanced journey level classification and reports to an appropriate supervisory or manager level position.

This classification is characterized by its primary function to serve in a lead capacity over a crew engaged in maintenance, groundskeeping, cleaning, and minor construction projects for an assigned area.
