Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer for our facility in Brewton, AL.
This position will provide technical support to the paper department to achieve key operation objectives in safety, environmental compliance, reliability, production, quality, and cost.
Our Team
The Brewton mill is located in south central Alabama about an hour from Mobile, AL, Pensacola, FL, and the beautiful beaches of the Gulf Coast.
The team is made up of 450 employees who produce white top linerboard and solid bleached sulfate (SBS) paperboard.
The SBS material is used to make GP's Dixie plates.
White top linerboard is used in production of corrugated containers and displays.
This position is an opportunity to be part of a rapidly expanding organization with tremendous growth potential.
The most recent $160M capital investment is expected to be completed in late 2024.
The Brewton mill was also the first fully integrated pulp and paper mill in the US to receive an Energy Star designation from the U.S.

Role and Responsibilities
The safe and efficient operation of filling machines, line quality and utilization/rotation of line team in accordance with company specifications.
Ensure work area is free of debris, spilled product, and prompt reporting of unsafe condition to management, which may jeopardize safety or product quality.
* Responsible for production line start-up process, line workers including, line assemblers and filling operators.
* Monitor employee and machinery efficiencies meeting or exceeding PPLH standards.
* Ensure that the scheduled work effort is accomplished to production specifications, on time and consistent with quality requirements and ensure cGMP and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) compliance
* Responsible for production reports.
* Communicate and enforce company policies to workers including safety regulations.
* Reassign employees to secondary production lines as needed.
* Ensure disposition of finished goods in accordance with Operation's Quality Acceptable Levels.
* Responsible for in-process inspection procedures.
* Work with Machine Maintenance and Quality Assurance staff in order to identify and troubleshoot production concerns.
* Responsible for the training of new Associates assigned to filling lines.
* Other responsibilities as assigned by Manager.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
* High school Diploma or GED preferred or manufacturing experience acting as a Production Leader
* Minimum two years’ experience in a fast-paced cGMP manufacturing environment
* Basic Math skills including but not limited to addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, and percentages required.
* Demonstrated ability to follow through on project assignments.
* Excellent team building and leadership skills.
* Excellent attendance record.
* Must have proven ability to read, write and communicate in English.
Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
* Strong, Consistent, reliable attention to detail and ability to work independently.
* Flexibility to work special schedules as required to satisfy job requirements and OT when necessary – including weekends.

Aerosol Machine Operator- 8AM-4PM
Purpose
The Gashouse Operator is responsible for the cleanliness, operation, and maintenance of all gashouse tools and equipment.
The gas house operator will adhere to all safety rules and regulations pertaining to the gas house and will report all issues concerning safety to the maintenance manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Meet pre-shift with shift supervisor regarding schedule, goals, quality & safety concerns
* Meet daily with maintenance manager and gashouse lead person to discuss gas house downtime and offer solutions
* Perform daily gashouse inspections for cleanliness, cGMP’s, and operational readiness.
* Perform all scheduled preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance as necessary
* Contributes accurate comments to detailed gas house downtime report
* Maintain gas house action registers and shift logs.
* Identify product quality defects caused in the gas house and initiate corrective action
* Perform inspections on change parts to ensure they are operational, clean, and burr free
* Conduct all gashouse changeovers
* Trouble shoot extended downtime issues in gas house
* Identify, analyze, and correct gas house production rate barriers
* Follow and enforce all Safety/GMP guidelines
* Perform and document quality checks as required.
Additional Duties and responsibilities
* Assist gashouse lead person in training new gas house personnel
* Assist Line Mechanics with line change over if available
* Assist Line Mechanics with line repairs if needed
* Other duties as assigned
Qualification Requirements
* Must have good communication skills, both written and verbal
* Must be Competent and Attentive
* Effective organizational and task prioritization skills
* Ability to read, write, and speak English competently
* Customer focused; Must be flexible in dealing with others in the organization, and with work assignments/projects
* Must be capable of both creative thought and deductive reasoning

* Ability to stand for long periods of time and move as needed to perform job duties for length of shift.

Educational Requirements
* High School Diploma or GED
Work Experience
1-2 years of general aerosol line experience preferred.
Technical Skills
* Analytical approach to problem solving.
* Good understanding of mechanical systems
* Good understanding of hydraulic/pneumatic systems
* Basic understanding of electronic controls
